William “Bill” Aubert Banks, Jr. 76 of Gallant, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021. His family will have a private service at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Morgan Funeral Chapel directing. Bill grew up in Atlanta, GA. He joined the Army after graduating from high school and later attended the University of South Carolina. He worked for Motion Industries for many years and in recent years for Triple H Specialty Products. He enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. Bill was always busy with a project around the house and could build or repair anything. He is preceded in death by his father, William Aubert Banks, Sr. and mother, Hazel Woodruff Banks. His survivors include wife, Cathi Wilson Banks; son, William Aubert Banks, III (wife, Whitney); daughters: Lisa Banks Bonamy (husband, Michael); Lindsay Banks Miller (husband, Ryan); grandchildren: Caroline and Colin Bonamy, Ansley, Harrison and Elsie Ann Miller and Hazel Anne Banks; siblings: Emily Brooks, Tim Banks, Grady Coggins and Connie Hall; mother & father-in-law: Ernie and Phyllis Wilson; brother & sister-in-law: Dennis and Jennifer Wilson and nephew, Dereck Wilson. Serving as pallbearers will be William Banks, III, Derek Wilson, Michael Bonamy and Ryan Miller. Honorary pallbearers: employees at Triple H, Motion Industries and all his friends. Graveside services for Mr. William Aubert Banks were held Friday morning January 26, at 11 o'clock at the Jackson City cemetery with the Rev. William L. Cawthon, pastor, Jackson Methodist Church, officiating. Funeral services were in charge of Haisten Funeral Home.
Mr. Banks died Wednesday morning at a private hospital following an extended illness. Born in Butts, he was the son of Mr. B. J. Banks and Mrs. Lillie Ocie Banks. He had lived in College Park for a number of years and was a member of the First Christian Church in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florris Woodruff Banks; two daughters, Mrs. Randall Colwell; Miss Connie Banks, both of College Park; four sons, William A. Banks Jr.; Wayne Banks, Timothy Banks and Dean Banks, all of College Park; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Flower, Atlanta; Mrs. R. L. Coggins, Marietta; one brother, J. C. Banks, Atlanta; one grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ernest Jester, Ray Ham, Asa Stewart, Owen Henley, Sandy White and Harvey Banks

BANKS Mrs. Hazel Woodruff Banks, age 85, of McDonough died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Henry Medical Center. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Forsyth, and a resident of Baptist Inn where she was one of their pianists. Mrs. Banks was born in Lithia Springs, Ga. Oct. 11, 1917, daughter of the late Annie Lula Crouch and Wesley Willis Woodruff. Her husband, William Aubert Banks, who died Jan. 24, 1962, preceded her in death. Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28 at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Survivors include her children, Emily and Bobby McKinnon of McDonough, Bill and Cathi Banks of Birmingham, Ala., Grady and Jo Coggins of Conyers, Connie and Ward Hall of Phoenix City, Ala., and Tim and Debra Banks of Ball Ground, Ga.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. William Randall Bedgood, Jr., 82, died Tuesday, September 28, 1999. A native Athenian, Mr. Bedgood was the son of the late W. R. Bedgood, Sr. and Melba McGowan Bedgood. He was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Randall Bedgood, III. Mr. Bedgood was a local businessman beginning with Bedgood Lumber and Coal Co., then the University Hotel Court. He was charter member of Beechhaven Baptist Church, a former member of the Clarke County Board of Education, a Clarke County Commissioner, a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and a Rotarian. A World War II veteran, Mr. Bedgood was decorated four times with the Silver Star for his 41 missions over North Africa, Italy and Axis occupied countries as a B-17 Bomber Pilot. He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the USAF Reserve. Survivors include two daughters, Diane B. Miller of Atlanta; Glyn B. Green of Beaufort, SC and three sons, Richard C. Bedgood of Athens; James D. Bedgood of Colbert and Robert E. Bedgood of Cumming; three sisters, Patsy B. Rogers of Colbert; Millie B. Warren of Athens and Melba B. Moles of Pensacola, FL, plus six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. The family will be at the residence of Millie Warren, 360 Woodhaven Parkway, on Thursday from 5:00 til 6:30 p.m. at Bridges Funeral Home.Pallbearers will be Rick McCue, Jack McCue, Jay Kelly, Christopher Miller, Ed Warren and Dan Bowdin. She is preceded in death by her mother Mary Anne Thomas, her father Willis Eugene Banks, and her step-father, George N. Thomas Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Griffin.
Miss Banks is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Anne Mayo (Roger); her brother, George N. Willis Eugene Banks (son of Willis Grady Banks and Nellie Coe Parmelee) was born on December 22, 1915 in Georgia. He died on March 8, 1952. He married Mary Anne Joiner on February 11, 1939 in Spalding County, Georgia. .She was born in 1921 in Georgia.

A Memorial Service for Irene Lindsey Banks will be held on Monday, April 23, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta at 6:00 p.m., with a Graveside Service on Tuesday, April 24, at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta at 11:00 a.m.
Mrs. Banks was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey E. Banks, daughter, Terri Ann, and her sisters, Carolyn L. Wallace and Margie L. Willingham. Irene and Harvey were married 41 years. They were members of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Kennesaw for nearly 20 years. Irene worked a long and fulfilling career at General Accident Insurance Company, but her volunteer work at Kennestone Hospital brought her the most pride. She leaves a close family to cherish her memory: daughter, Toni Banks Hanson; granddaughter, Ivey Michelle Hanson; Ivey's fiancé, Joseph Graves Englund; nieces, Cheryl White and Jan Mosley; and nephew, Lindsey Wallace, as well as a host of great nephews and great nieces, all of whom Irene loved very much. Her family will most remember Irene's unfaltering devotion and the life lessons she served up alongside plates of collard greens and cornbread.

Graveside services for Mrs. B. J. Banks, 76 years of age, who died in her Atlanta home Tuesday, were held at the Jackson cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were held at Spring Hill, with Dr. C. R. Stauffer officiating.
The former Miss Ocie Weaver, Mrs. Banks was born and reared in Butts county. For several years the family has resided in Atlanta.
She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Mrs. S. H. Anderson and Mrs. Joe F. Camp of Atlanta, and Mrs. R. L. Coggins of Marietta; three sons, W. G. Banks of Griffin; J. C. Banks, Atlanta, and W. A. Banks of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. J. G. Russell of Guntersville, Ala.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Briggs Jefferson Banks, 85 years of age, former resident of Butts county, who died Tuesday at Marietta while visiting relatives were held Wednesday in Marietta and burial was in the Jackson cemetery. Mr. Banks, retired lumberman, resided in Monroe county. A good many years ago Mr. Banks resided in Butts county where he was widely known as a successful farmer. His wife, the former Miss Ocie Weaver, died a few years ago.
He is survived by three sons, W. A. Banks. Marietta; J. C. Banks, Atlanta., and Willis Banks, Griffin; three daughters, Mrs. R.L. Coggins, Marietta; Mrs. J. F. Camp and Mrs. F. H. Anderson, Atlanta, and ten grandchildren
A little three months old child of Mr. And Mrs. B. J. Banks died last Saturday and was buried at the cemetery on Sunday. The Argus tenders its sympathy to the bereaved parents in the loss of their little one.
