Dalton J. Powers

Dalton J. Powers (son of William Lonnie Powers and Alice Alberta Dukes) was born on April 19, 1929 in Georgia.  He died on November 2, 1990 in Carroll County, Georgia.  He married Grace Cantrell (daughter of Bill Cantrell and Lula) on July 3, 1948 in Carroll County, Georgia.  She was born on September 27, 1927 in Mount Zion, Carroll, Georgia. She died on December 31, 2019.  

Dalton J. Powers was buried in Lee's Chapel First Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Carrollton, Carroll, Georgia.  Grace Cantrell was buried at the First Baptist Church of Ranburne Cemetery in Ranburne, Cleburne, Alabama.

2.  Sandra Joan Farmer was born on March 22, 1953.

He married Betty Virginia Willis.  She was born on January 15, 1937 in Carrollton, Carroll, Georgia.  She died on July 16, 1998 in Carroll County, Georgia.

Betty Virginia Willis was buried in Midway Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Villa Rica, Carroll, Georgia.

3.  Steven Dalton Powers was born on July 13, 1957.
4.  Timothy Keith Powers was born on November 12, 1963.

He married Betty B. McCormick on April 18, 1970 in Carroll County, Georgia.

Dalton Powers: Dalton Powers, 61, 285 Akin Road, Carrollton, died Nov. 2, 1990 following a one car accident on McKenzie Bridge Road. He was born in Carroll County, April 19, 1929, son of the late William Lonnie and Alice Alberta Duke Powers. He had lived in Carroll County all of his life. He was an attendant at Haynes Chevron Service Station and a Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife, the former Jackie Price Samples; four daughters, Sandra Massengale and Peggy Rollins of Bowdon, Tracie Powers and Lynn Powers of Carrollton; two sons, Steve Powers and Tim Powers of Carrollton; 20 grandchildren; three sisters, Annie Kate Wyatt, Opal Gay and Edna Richardson, all of Carrollton; and two brothers, Garland Powers and Clarence Powers of Carrollton. Services were conducted Monday, Nov. 5, from Lee's Chapel Church with Rev. Grant Finnell officiating. Music was by Newt and Louise Holmes. Pallbearers were Jackie Cook, Jerrell Haynes, Winston Harper, Jerry Phillips, Bobby Harper and Jackie Richardson. Interment was in the church cemetery with the American Legion Post 143 folding and presenting the flag. Martin & Hightower West Center Street Chapel of Carrollton was in charge of arrangements.

Grace Cantrell Farmer, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on December 31, 2019. She was 92. Mrs. Farmer was born on September 27, 1927 in Mt. Zion, Georgia to the late Bill and Lula Cantrell. She was retired from Lamar Manufacturing where she worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, loved shopping, and traveling. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Farmer Farr; her brothers, J.W. Cantrell, Joe Bill Cantrell, and Frank Cantrell; and her sisters, Jimmie Lou Marlow, Mary Cantrell, and Sally Henderson. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Dick Farmer; her children and their spouses, Peggy and Terry Stone, Johnny and Lynn Farmer, and Ronnie and Regina Farmer; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sue and Steve McCarty; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Cantrell; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Bro. Jerry Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Ranburne Cemetery. Prior to the services on Thursday, the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. till the funeral hour. Shelby Jean Hall

Shelby Jean Hall (daughter of George Leonard Hall and Minnie Wallace) was born in 1937 in Georgia.  She married Jimmie Donald McCormick.  He was born on September 20, 1937 in Cleburne County, Alabama.  He died on March 3, 2019 in Woodland, Alabama.

Funeral services for Jimmie “Donald” McCormick, 81, of Woodland will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Harmony Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Wiggins and Rev. Brian Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.
Mr. McCormick passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Hall McCormick of Woodland; one daughter, Ginger McCormick Parrish (husband, Greggory) of Woodland and one sister, Elaine M. English (husband, Stanley) of Oxford, AL.
Pallbearers will be Joey Lipham, Elton Akins, Richard Parrish, Jay Young, Heath Thompson, and Timothy Alvis.
A Cleburne County native, Mr. McCormick was born on September 20, 1937, the son of Alonzo and Rosie McCaghren McCormick. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of Harmony Congregational Methodist Church, and worked as a car salesman. Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Mission Fund at Harmony Church.
