Mrs. Geraldine Hall Smith, 82, of Welcome, passed away peacefully Friday, June 15, 2012 at Avalon of Newnan.
Born January 11, 1930, in Carroll County Georgia she was the youngest of 10 children. She went to work at age 14 as a mill worker in Arnco GA and later worked at Bleyle as a bundle girl. She was known for her love of cooking and her desire to help others. Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all. She never met a stranger. She even introduced herself as Nanny. “Just call me Nanny” she would say. That is who she was, Nanny Geraldine. Nanny was a member at Emory Chapel UMC where she faithfully served the Lord until she was physically unable to do so.
She is survived by her children; Sherry Warren, of Newnan and Gary Smith (and wife Reba) of LaGrange; grandchildren Shane Warren of Newnan, Leigh Warren Hinesley (and husband Harley), of PCB, FL and Misty Smith of LaGrange; great-grandchildren Khi Pizar of Newnan and Christine Warren of Newnan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Hall and Katie Lee Phillips Hall, her 9 siblings and her husband Mr. Clifford L. Smith.
Visitation will be Saturday June 16th, 2012 from 2-4pm at McKoon Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 4pm in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Franklin Treadwell & Rev. Mike Ayers officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you make a donation in memory of Mrs. Smith to Emory Chapel UMC, 2677 Hwy 34 West, Newnan GA 30263.
