Mason Lee Furrow 2 Timothy 4:7- I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Mason Lee Furrow, 4, of Shady Spring was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Duke University, Durham, NC following a 4 month battle with cancer. Born November 28, 2005 in Beckley he was the son of Ron and Jamie Richmond Furrow. Mason attended Beaver First Baptist church. Mason enjoyed farming and riding 4 wheelers and hunting. Mason was preceded in death by maternal great grandparents Earl and Maye Richmond and Jeff Bennett; paternal great grandparents Roy McGraw and Estel and Louise Furrow; cousin Madison Furrow; great aunt Betty Bennett and great uncle Glenville Richmond. In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his brother Michael Furrow; maternal great grandmother Lottie Bennett; paternal great grandmothers Louise McGraw and June Furrow; maternal grandparents Dale and Shirley Richmond; paternal grandparents Nancy and Warren Reuschel and David and Jean Furrow; great uncles Jerry McGraw , Gary Bennett and Charles and wife June Furrow; great aunts Janie and husband Greg Moomaw, and Wanda Lilly; uncles Chris and wife Vicky Richmond, Dan and wife Angela Furrow; aunts Cristy and husband Jay Jones, Julie and husband Shane Mitchell; several cousins Christian, Keith and Jaden Richmond, Cody and Luke Jones, Hailey and Emily Furrow, Sarah, Joshua and Rebekah Mitchell. Services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Charles Furrow and Pastor Steve Mooney officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Jay Jones, Shane Mitchell, Dan Furrow, and Darin Moore will serve as pallbearers. Friends may gather with the family Sunday from 1 – 3 PM at the funeral home. Donations can be made payable to PRT Brain Tumor Center. Please mail to the family at 1722 Pluto Road, Shady Spring, WV 25918. They will be designated to support research for Medulloblastoma and forwarded to the Brain Tumor Center at Duke University. Born November 15, 1949 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of Estel and Louise (Allen) Furrow. He came to Brooksville 18 years ago from Tampa, FL, worked in the construction field in electrical safety and maintenance and attended Community Baptist Church. He was a member of the Hernando Gardening Association, was an avid beekeeper, and was everybody's maintenance man. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois "Jean" Furrow; grandchildren, Mason Furrow and Madison Furrow; and his stepmother, June E. Furrow.
