James served in the Civil War in the Confederate Army. He served as a Private in Co C 34 of the Georgia Infantry.

7. Asa Thomas Powers was born on March 25, 1873.
8. William Patrick Powers was born on January 7, 1874 in Coweta County, Georgia. He died on December 16, 1886 in Coweta County, Georgia. He was buried in the Pike/Powers/Huggins Cemetery in Newnan, Coweta, Georgia.
9. Bridget Bessie Powers was born in November 1878.
10. Infant Son Powers was born on July 10, 1884 in Coweta County, Georgia. He died on July 10, 1884 in Coweta County, Georgia. He was buried in the Pike/Powers/Huggins Cemetery in Newnan, Coweta, Georgia.
11. Jesse Powers was born in October 1885 in Coweta County, Georgia.
