William Aubert Banks

William Aubert Banks (son of Briggs Jefferson Banks and Lillie Ocie Weaver) was born on February 10, 1887 in Butts County, Georgia.  He died on January 24, 1962.  He married Mattie A. Dowd (daughter of Willis Dows and Mary Norris).  She was born on August 25, 1896 in Wrightsville, Johnson, Georgia.  She died on June 13, 1942 in Fulton County, Georgia.

William Aubert Banks and Mattie A. Dowd were buried in Jackson City Cemetery in Jackson, Butts, Georgia.

No children were born to this union.

He married Hazel Florris Woodruff (daughter of Wesley Willis Woodruff and Annie Lula Crouch).  She was born on October 11, 1917.  She died on July 24, 2003.

Hazel Florris Woodruff was buried at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia.

Rites Friday for Mr. Banks, Jackson Native
Graveside services for Mr. William Aubert Banks were held Friday morning January 26, at 11 o'clock at the Jackson City cemetery with the Rev. William L. Cawthon, pastor, Jackson Methodist Church, officiating. Funeral services were in charge of Haisten Funeral Home.
Mr. Banks died Wednesday morning at a private hospital following an extended illness. Born in Butts, he was the son of Mr. B. J. Banks and Mrs. Lillie Ocie Banks. He had lived in College Park for a number of years and was a member of the First Christian Church in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florris Woodruff Banks; two daughters, Mrs. Randall Colwell; Miss Connie Banks, both of College Park; four sons, William A. Banks Jr.; Wayne Banks, Timothy Banks and Dean Banks, all of College Park; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Flower, Atlanta; Mrs. R. L. Coggins, Marietta; one brother, J. C. Banks, Atlanta; one grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ernest Jester, Ray Ham, Asa Stewart, Owen Henley, Sandy White and Harvey Banks

Jackson Services Monday for Mrs. Mattie A. Banks 
Burial services for Mrs. Mattie A. Banks, 45 years of age, who died at her home in Atlanta Saturday, were held at the Jackson cemetery Monday afternoon.  Rites were held in Atlanta at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the chapel of J. Austin Dillon Company. 
Mrs. Banks is survived by her husband, W. A. Banks, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Banks of Butts county; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Newman of Atlanta; Mrs. C. M. Fox and Mrs. C. L. Waters, both of Rome, Ga.; four brothers, J. J., F. L., W. B., and J. F. Dowd.

 BANKS Mrs. Hazel Woodruff Banks, age 85, of McDonough died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Henry Medical Center. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Forsyth, and a resident of Baptist Inn where she was one of their pianists. Mrs. Banks was born in Lithia Springs, Ga. Oct. 11, 1917, daughter of the late Annie Lula Crouch and Wesley Willis Woodruff. Her husband, William Aubert Banks, who died Jan. 24, 1962, preceded her in death. Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28 at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Survivors include her children, Emily and Bobby McKinnon of McDonough, Bill and Cathi Banks of Birmingham, Ala., Grady and Jo Coggins of Conyers, Connie and Ward Hall of Phoenix City, Ala., and Tim and Debra Banks of Ball Ground, Ga.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, July 26 from 2 to 4 p.m.
