Eleanor Louise Banks

Eleanor Louise Banks (daughter of Willis Grady Banks and Nellie Coe Parmelee) was born on December 22, 1918 in Griffin, Spalding, Georgia.  She died on May 25, 1987 in Athens, Clarke, Georgia.  She married William Randall Bedgood (son of William Randall Bedgood and Melba McGowan) on December 9, 1939 in Spalding County, Georgia.  He was born on May 26, 1917 in Athens, Clarke, Georgia.  He died on September 28, 1999.

Eleanor Louise Banks is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, Spalding, Georgia.  William Randall Bedgood is buried at Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens, Clarke, Georgia.

William Randall Bedgood, Jr., 82, died Tuesday, September 28, 1999.  A native Athenian, Mr. Bedgood was the son of the late W. R. Bedgood, Sr. and Melba McGowan Bedgood.  He was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Randall Bedgood, III.  Mr. Bedgood was a local businessman beginning with Bedgood Lumber and Coal Co., then the University Hotel Court.  He was charter member of Beechhaven Baptist Church, a former member of the Clarke County Board of Education, a Clarke County Commissioner, a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and a Rotarian.  A World War II veteran, Mr. Bedgood was decorated four times with the Silver Star for his 41 missions over North Africa, Italy and Axis occupied countries as a B-17 Bomber Pilot.  He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the USAF Reserve.  Survivors include two daughters, Diane B. Miller of Atlanta; Glyn B. Green of Beaufort, SC and three sons, Richard C. Bedgood of Athens; James D. Bedgood of Colbert and Robert E. Bedgood of Cumming; three sisters, Patsy B. Rogers of Colbert; Millie B. Warren of Athens and Melba B. Moles of Pensacola, FL, plus six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.  The family will be at the residence of Millie Warren, 360 Woodhaven Parkway, on Thursday from 5:00 til 6:30 p.m. at Bridges Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rick McCue, Jack McCue, Jay Kelly, Christopher Miller, Ed Warren and Dan Bowdin. Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Beechhaven Baptist Church with interment in Oconee Hill Cemetery.  Dr. Stewart Simms will officiate.  Those desiring may make contributions to the building fund at Beechhaven Baptist Church, 2390 W. Broad St., Athens, GA. 30606 or to the charity of your choice.  Bridges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
