Marianna Gilbert

Marianna Gilbert (daughter of Edwin Glenn Gilbert and Ethel Thornton) was born on February 11, 1927 in Marietta, Cobb, Georgia.  She died in June 11, 2012.  She married Patrick Francis Henry (son of Pervis Stanley Henry and Martha Augusta Penney).  He was born on February 25, 1925.  He died on January 24, 2002.  

Marianna Gilbert and Patrick Francis Henry are buried at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Fulton, Georgia.

Marianna Gilbert Henry passed away peacefully on June 11, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 11, 1927 in Marietta, Georgia. She graduated from Girls High School and attended The Atlanta College of Arts on a scholarship. Marianna worked for the Ivan-Allen Marshall Company in 1948 and assisted Margaret Mitchell Marsh in the design of her stationery. She married Patrick Francis Henry, Sr. in December 1950 and was married for 51 years. She was a member of the Atlanta Arts League and one of the founding members of the Cherokee Town & Country Club Art Committee. She was a talented portrait and landscape artist and seamstress. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, entertaining, tennis and traveling. She was a member of Northside United Methodist Church and was active in the Pine Forest Garden Club. She is predeceased by her husband, Patrick F. Henry Sr. and by her son Patrick Francis Henry Jr. She is survived by her brother, Edwin Gilbert and his wife Alice Gilbert of Fort Worth, Texas; by her daughter, Linda Gay Henry of Atlanta; her youngest son, Michael Glenn Henry, Atlanta and his wife Leah Hopkins Henry, Rome; her daughter-in-law Sheree Swertfeger Henry, Atlanta. Also surviving are her granddaughter, Melissa Ann Henry, her grandson Patrick Francis Henry III and her grandsons Zachary Hopkins Henry and Michael Stokes Henry; her sister-in-law, Jane Epps Henry, nieces Pamela Henry Pate and husband Barry Pate, their sons Jim Pate and Branham Pate; Cecilia Henry Kurland and husband, Ted Kurland, their daughter Abigail Kurland Whitlock and husband Jason Whitlock, nephew William Henry, and his son Mason Henry. She was beloved by all of her family and friends. She was a very kind and generous woman who shared her loved with many people, including her pets. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to everyone at The Mann House for their loving care and dedication. Funeral services will be held Friday June 15th at 2 pm at Northside United Methodist Church. Dr. Gil Watson will be officiating. Internment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 14th from 4-6 pm at Oglethorpe Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association for Research, 225 N. Michigan Ave., 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601.

6/13 … Gay Henry’s mother, Marianna Gilbert Henry, 85, passed away Monday, June 11, after a long bout with Alzheimer’s. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed away peacefully.
Visitation will be on Thurs., June 14 from 4-6 at H. M. Patterson Funeral Home, 4550 Peachtree Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30305. Her funeral will be Fri., June 15 at 2 pm at Northside Methodist Church, 2799 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Fund.
