Richard Johnson Clayton

Richard Johnson Clayton (son of Alexander McDaniel Clayton and Allie Dell Cozart) was born in 1920 in North Carolina. He died on May 13, 1989 in Burlington, Alamance, North Carolina. He married Sarah Louise Ashley (daughter of Tinnie Ashley and Alice Davis) on August 6, 1943 in Person County, North Carolina.  She was born in 1923 in Person County, North Carolina.  She died on February 8, 2009 in Burlington, Alamance, North Carolina.

Richard Johnson Clayton and Sarah Louise Ashley are buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane, Orange, North Carolina.

MEBANE - Louise Ashley Clayton, 86, of 704 E. Ashland Drive, Mebane, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
A native of Person County, she was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Glenn and husband Larry of the home; a granddaughter, Lisa Glenn of Mebane, N.C.; brothers, Lonzie Ashley and Guy Ashley, both of Roxboro; several nieces and nephews and several beloved animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Johnson Clayton; parents, Tinnie and Alice Davis Ashley; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by the Rev. Frank Howerton. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane. At other times, they will be at the residence.
