Virginia Mathan Haywood

Virginia Mathan Haywood (daughter of Robert Wilson Haywood and Willie Lee Belcher) was born on August, 28, 1936 in Princeton, Mercer, West Virginia.  She died on October 9, 2010 in Princeton, Mercer, West Virginia.  She married Raymond Verdie Canterbury (son of Onie Kester Canterbury and Sarah Bell Shrewsbury on June 30, 1951 in Giles County, Virginia.  He was born on July 24, 1928.  He died on May 12, 1989 in Oceana, Wyoming, West Virginia.  

Raymond Verdie Canterbury was buried in Brown Cemetery in Hardy, Mercer, West Virginia.

2.  Donnie Ray Canterbury was born on December 31, 1956 in Princeton, Mercer, West Virginia.  He died on April 10, 1957 in Bluefield, Mercer, West Virginia.  He was buried in Brown Cemetery in Hardy, Mercer, West Virginia.
3.  Debbie Kay Canterbury was born on December 31, 1956.
4.  Zina Carol Canterbury was born on July 21, 1963.  She died on June 14, 2006.  She was buried in Brown Cemetery in Hardy, Mercer, West Virginia.
5.  Harry Canterbury (Living, Details Withheld)

She married Charlie Chandler.

There were no children to this union.

Virginia Mathan Haywood Chandler, 74, of 1106 Old Athens Road, Princeton, died Saturday, October 9, 2010, at her residence. Born August 28, 1936, in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Robert Wilson and Willie Belcher Haywood. She was a retired cook and had worked several years for Bluefield Moose Lodge. She was of the Methodist faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernie Canterbury; her second husband, Charlie Chandler; one infant son, Donnie Ray Canterbury; three daughters, Patsy Wallace, Zina Canterbury, and Debbie Canterbury; and one brother, Robert Haywood. Survivors include one son, Harry Canterbury of Princeton; two brothers, Daniel Haywood of Beckley, and Darnell Haywood of Hardy; four sisters, Lilly Jones of Ingleside, Joy Adkins, with whom she made her home, of Princeton, Leisha Brinkley of Hardy, and June Dillon and her husband Don of Ada; and special friend & caregiver, Rita Overbee. In keeping with Virginia&s wishes, a graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Monday, October 11, 2010 (today), at the Brown Cemetery in Hardy. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. today at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:30 P.M.
