George Farmer

George Farmer (son of Elam Farmer) was born in 1765 in Virginia. He married Nancy on May 15, 1794 in Lunenburg County, Virginia.

Children of George Farmer and Nancy are:
1.  Henry Farmer was born in 1795.
2.  Elizabeth Farmer was born in 1797.
3.  Thomas Farmer was born in 1798.
4.  William Farmer was born on June 22, 1801.
5.  Theodocia Farmer was born in 1806.
6.  George W. Farmer was born in 1808.
7.  Robert Hardin Farmer was born on August 21, 1809.

Notes
In the 1800 census there are 2 females 10-15. IF these females are daughters, then was George married once before Nancy and had children with a first wife? George and Nancy married in 1794 (if you use the Lunenburg marriage record for George Farmer and Nancy Hardin), so it is possible that he married once before. I guess the girls could also be Nancy's from a previous marriage since her age is not known exactly either. He is listed as over 45 in 1800, so was over 30 when he married Nancy. Nancy is also listed over 45, but in order for her to have children in 1809, this date would be incorrect. Also, if she was indeed over 45, then the younger children (Theodocia, George and Robert) could be grandchildren of George and children of a son from a previous marriage. With out more proof, I cannot say one way or the other. I am keeping the 3 younger children listed as children (since most researchers agree to this info) until it can be proven otherwise. (Update March 2014 – I am now wondering if both George and Nancy were miss-marked in 1800. It is reported that George's grandfather was born around 1720, so if this is the case, his father would have to be born after 1840 and a 1755 or earlier birth date for George seems improbable.)
